ชายหนุ่มนักเล่าเรื่อง เล่าเรื่องราวของชายแก่ที่จดจำสิ่งต่าง ๆ ของรถไฟ เขาจดจำได้แม้กระทั่ง ตัวเลขของตู้โดยสาร ตารางการเดินรถหรือแม้กระทั่งเมืองที่รถไฟทุกขบวนแล่นผ่าน และในยามซึ่งไ้ร้เทคโนโลยีใด ๆ ทุกคนล้วนแต่ถามทุกสิ่งเกี่ยวกับรถไฟจากชายนักจำ ทว่าเมื่อกาลเวลาเปลี่ยนผ่าน ความก้าวหน้าเริ่มเข้ามาแทนที่ และ ”ความทรงจำ” อันแสนวิเศษของ “ชายนักจำ” ก็อาจจะไม่ได้วิเศษอีกต่อไป
ละครเรื่องนี้ เดิมทีเป็นละครธีสิสของนักศึกษา มหาวิทยาลัยศิลปากร ดัดแปลงจากเรื่องสั้น Der Mann mit dem Gedächtnis โดย Peter Bichsel และในปี 2566 ผู้จัดและเพื่อน พี่ น้อง กลุ่มคนวัยทำงานในจังหวัดนครปฐมจึงทดลองส่งเรื่องมาที่เทศกาลละครกรุงเทพ หลังจากที่รู้ว่าผ่านเข้าคัดเลือก จึงจัดตั้งกลุ่มละครที่ชื่อว่า มาใหม่ โปรดักชั่น (MAMAI PRODUCTION) เพื่อทำละครเข้าเทศกาลโดยเฉพาะ
“A narrator portrays the story of an old man, the protagonist, who has a brilliant memory for everything related to trains, such as train carriage numbers, train timetables, and every towns that all trains have been through. Consequently, in a time when technology was lacking, people would inevitably seek information about trains from him. However, as times began to change, his remarkable memory talent would become obsolete.”
“This drama theater was originally a thesis by a theatre arts student from Silpakorn University, adapted from Peter Bichsel’s short story, ‘Der Mann mit dem Gedächtnis.’ Therefore, we, as people from Nakorn Pathom, decided to participate in the Bangkok Drama Festival and establish a production called ‘MAMAI PRODUCTION’ with the specific aim of recreating ‘Chai Nak Cham.’”
