The book invites us to witness the violence of human nature, the early development of Capitalism in a rural area in Thailand and how it ultimately transforms human to become an image of their own security. The performance aims to give the audience an opportunity to witness a different being that lurked inside each guest performers and to soundlessly observe the animal within. The guest artists are asked to disarm and give up any apparatus that helps caged both the human and non-human in them to be presented. It could be said that human is the only animal which knows every side within itself the least. It is perhaps because human learned to suppress and censored their deepest desires as well as raw instinct with moral, ethical and societal reasons. We, therefore are not familiar with the hidden side of ourselves. As a performance artist, Dujdao is familiar with the theatre-making elements that include rehearsing, selecting and polishing the performance before the show. She noticed that what absent during the show is the quality of being that has the mixture between being well-arranged and imperfect. Her interest lies in the imperfectness or roughness of humans especially when they are able to accept the brokenness and their vulnerabilities in themselves. Therefore for this performance, Dujdao spent only two days to familiarise herself and explain the structure of the performance with the guest artists and consequently, improvisation will play a big part in this performance. A method of “disarming” is a practice which Dujdao regularly employ to her performers for the last six years and the piece is no exception. She challenges each guest artists to surrender themselves to their innermost self and let it manifest through the body without resisting it with any defence. However, as a psychotherapist, Dujdao designs the space and process of this performance for the maximum safety of the performers' mentality. She will also use her expertise in psychotherapy to gently handle, challenge and liberate each guest artists during the performance. Each guest artists will only have one chance to experience the performance as in each round the “Humanimal” role will be performed by different artists from a different practice of art. Besides, in a certain round, Dujdao herself will take the role of the “Humanimal” in which she will be handled, challenged and liberated with the help of a professional psychotherapist who will carry out the method of “disarming” on Dujdao herself. --Performed in Thai with English surtitle-- HUMANIMAL has 16 performances on 21 – 24, 28 -31 March , 18 – 21, 25 - 28 April 2019 Showtime 8:00pm - 9:15pm, every Thursday - Sunday.
