BTF ก้าวไปอีกขั้น ด้วยการแสดงจากนานาชาติ ทั้งจาก ญี่ปุ่น เกาหลีใต้ มาเลเซีย แอลจีเรีย บังคลาเทศ สิงคโปร์
---- เริ่มด้วยสัปดาห์แรก ----
กับงาน collaborate ระหว่างญี่ปุ่นและไทย ดัดแปลงจากบทละครญี่ปุ่น Tokyo Notes ที่เคยจัดแสดง ในเวอร์ชั่นที่แปลและดัดแปลงไปตามหลายประเทศทั่วโลก จนมาถึงปี 2017 บทละครเรื่องนี้ได้เดินทางมาถึงประเทศไทย และกลายมาเป็น “Bangkok Notes” ว่าด้วยเรื่องความสัมพันธ์ ของคนต่าง ๆ ในพิพิธภัณฑ์แห่งหนึ่ง โดยมีฉากหลังเป็นสงครามครั้งใหญ่
ต่อด้วย การแสดงดนตรีสด จาก มาเลเซีย ประเภทอะคูสติก ผสมอีเลคทรอนิก กับเครื่องดนตรีพื้นบ้าน และยังมีโปรเจคเตอร์ฉายภาพประกอบร่วมด้วย ทั้งยังเป็นงาน interactive ให้ผู้ชมได้มีส่วนร่วม สร้างสรรค์ให้งานเติมเต็ม เป็นการแสดงที่จะพาผู้ชมเดินทางไปสู่สัมผัสใหม่ๆ ทั้งภาพและเสียง กับ “POLKA • playground"

พบกับ movement จากแอลจีเรีย “The noise of silence” การเคลื่อนไหวของร่างกายที่สะท้อนสภาวะผิดปกติของจิตใจ
ในแบบที่ไม่เคยมีใครแสดงออกมา
และ งานละใบ้ จากบังคลาเทศ แม้ว่าแต่ละประเทศ จะมีภาษาที่ต่างกันออกไป แต่หากเป็นภาษากาย ไม่ว่าจะประเทศไหน เราก็เข้าใจได้เหมือนกัน ชมความสนุกจากละครใบ้ และลีลาการเคลื่อนไหว อันเป็นเอกลักษณ์ในแบบของบังคลาเทศกันได้ใน “A tale of a hero” เรื่องราวของชายหนุ่มผู้ ที่ต้องฟันฝ่าอุปสรรคอย่างกล้าหาญ

ชมละครใบ้สไตล์อบอุ่นๆ จากเกาหลีใต้ ที่รวมเอา 3 เรื่องสั้นไว้ด้วยกัน สนุกสนาน น่ารัก สไตล์เกาหลีๆ ไปกับ “Mime Omnibus <Cloud Farm>”
และเรื่องสุดท้าย งาน collaborate ระหว่าง สิงคโปร์ และ ไทย ผู้ชาย 2 คน 2 ชาติ ที่ใช้พลังเชิงภูมิศาสตร์ของน้ำ สร้างสรรค์ตำนานใหม่ ให้เมืองของอีกฝ่ายหนึ่ง เพื่อศึกษาอดีตและพยากรณ์อนาคตเมืองของอีกฝ่ายหนึ่งด้วย

"บางกอก โน้ตส์" โดย โอริสะ ฮิราตะ หนึ่งในนักเขียนบทละคร/ ผู้กำกับการแสดงที่มีอิทธิพลและเป็นแรงบันดาลใจอย่างมากต่อวงการละครญี่ปุ่นและทั่วโลก ร่วมด้วยนักแสดงไทยมืออาชีพกว่า 20 ชีวิต อันเป็นหนึ่งในกิจกรรมเพื่อรำลึกถึงวาระครบรอบ 130 ปีความสัมพันธ์ไทย-ญี่ปุ่น
เรื่องราวทั้งหมดเกิดขึ้นในล็อบบี้ของพิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะแห่งหนึ่ง สงครามใหญ่กำลังก่อตัวในยุโรป ที่นี่มีการแสดงภาพเขียนซึ่งย้ายมาจากยุโรปที่สถานการณ์บ้านเมืองกำลังระส่ำระสาย ครอบครัว เพื่อน และคู่รัก ผลัดกันเข้ามาชมนิทรรศการพลางสนทนาเกี่ยวกับการดูแลพ่อแม่ อาชีพในอนาคต ความรัก มรดก และเรื่องราวอื่นๆอีกมากมาย ด้วยฉากหลังที่เป็นสงครามครั้งใหญ่ ละครยังคงแสดงให้เห็นถึงชีวิตประจำวันของมนุษย์ได้อย่างละเอียดอ่อน และค่อยๆคลี่คลายปัญหา ความกลัดกลุ้ม และเสียงร่ำร้องของสังคมสมัยใหม่ออกมา

การแสดงสดทั้งเสียง ที่ใช้เครื่องดนตรีอะคูสติก ผสมเครื่องดนตรีพื้นถิ่น เครื่องดนตรีอีเลคทรอนิค และยังมีภาพจากการฉายทับบนเวที ประกอบการแสดง สร้างสรรค์การเปลี่ยนแปลงของพื้นที่ ให้คนดูได้สัมผัสประสบการณ์ใหม่ๆ และยังให้ผู้ชมได้มีส่วนร่วม ได้สร้างความมหัศจรรย์ในการแสดงนี้อีกด้วย

เมื่อชายหนุ่มต้องต่อสู้กับโจร โดยที่แม่ของเขาคอยสวดมนต์ภาวนาช่วยอยู่... นี่คือเรื่องของชายหนุ่มที่ออกเดินทางแสวงโชคพร้อมกับแม่ของเขา แต่ถูกแก๊งโจรเข้าปล้นในระหว่างทาง ชายหนุ่มเอาชนะกลุ่มโจรได้ด้วยความกล้าหาญ ในขณะเดียวกันนั้น เจ้าหญิงก็ถูกลักพาตัวไป พระราชาจึงขอให้ชายหนุ่มไปช่วยเหลือเจ้าหญิง แล้วเขาก็ช่วยเธอได้สำเร็จ เอาชนะทุกอุปสรรคได้

การแสดงละครใบ้ จาก เกาหลีใต้

ละครใบ้สามเรื่องสั้น ที่จะทำให้คุณอบอุ่นหัวใจ เหมือนได้ฟังนิทานก่อนนอน กับเรื่องแรก เมื่อเจ้าแมลงสาบโดนไล่จับ เพราะแอบเข้ามาในห้อง แต่สุดท้ายพวกเขากลับเต้นรำร่วมกัน ตามด้วยเรื่องที่สอง เรื่องของชาวนาที่มาเจอกับเจ้านก ที่พาเขาขึ้นไปบนเมฆเหนือท้องฟ้า
และเรื่องสุดท้าย เรื่องของต้นไม้ที่เติบโตมาพร้อมกับเด็กหญิง เมื่อเด็กหญิงมีความสุข เจ้าต้นไม้ก็จะมีความสุขไปด้วย

Six international performances will join BTF this year.
For the first time, BTF opens its door to international artists from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Algeria, Bangladesh and Singapore.
---- The First Week ----
First off, the festival presents a collaboration between Thailand and Japan. Adapted from “Tokyo Notes,” a play which has been adapted for many contexts around the world, “Bangkok Notes” finally arrives in Thailand in 2017. Set in a museum, the play explores the human relationships in times of war.
A live music from Malaysia is next. "POLKA • playground” will introduce you to a new audio-visual sensations. Expect an acoustic blend of electronic and traditional instruments, lightshows, and audience participation.
--- The second week ---
A dance performance from Algeria, “The Noise of Silence” uses body movements to reflect the psychological disorders in a way never expressed before.
Also in the second week, a Bangladeshi mime will bridge any language gap. Using only body languages and movements, “A Tale of a Hero” will entertain you with an adventure of a young man who courageously overcomes various obstacles.
--- The last week ---
Enjoy a collection of three short mime performances from South Korea. “Mime Omnibus <Cloud Farm>” promises you a cute heartwarming Korean experience.
Last but not least, a Singaporean-Thai collaboration brought together two artists. With references to the geography and fluidity of waters, the two men create a new legend for each other’s city, in order to explore its past and predict its future. Join them in “Open Waters.”
“Bangkok Notes”
A play from Japan-Thailand
Presented by Japan Foundation, Bangkok and the Department of Dramatic Arts, Faculty of Arts, Chulalongkorn University
Directed by Oriza Hirata
“Bangkok Notes” is adapted from the original script by Oriza Hirata, one of the most internationally acclaimed playwright/director. Performed by more than 20 professional Thai actors, the production is part of the celebration of the 130th anniversary of the Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations.
The story takes place in the lobby of an art museum in the near future.
A major war is being waged in Europe. In front of the paintings evacuated from the war-torn areas, the visiting Bangkokian family members, friends and lovers endlessly continue fragmentary conversations about taking care of ageing parents, their future careers, love, inheritance and whatnot.
Against the huge backdrop of war, the play scrupulously portrays the people of Bangkok living their ordinary everyday lives, revealing a whole range of problems and crises of the modern society.

An interactive improvisational audio-visual performance from Malaysia

POLKA • playground is a live audio-visual performance. ‘Seeds of music’ placed by audience carried various elements, interactive to musicians’ live improvisational music played on acoustic, ethnical and electronic musical instruments on stage. Projection mapped on performance venue moves alongside music and creates space transformative experience for audiences.

“The Noise of Silence”

A dancer depicting the extent of the psychological disorders that exist inside us, and are not felt by the others. That inner noise is translated in body movements and senses. One may seem silent, as if he doesn’t think about anything and feels nothing, but when we look at the inside, we see a volcano of sensations and thoughts grappling in silence.

“A Tale of A Hero”
A pantomime movement from Bangladesh

When the youth was fighting with the robbers, his mother was praying silently in a corner....
A youth went out with his mother in search of fortune. On the way they were attacked by a gang of robbers, but the robbers retreated for the bravery of the youth. In the meantime a princess was abducted. The king wanted cooperation of the brave youth to rescue the princess. The youth rescued her overcoming all the obstacles.

A cockroach comes into the room. Tried to catch it, but danced with it in the end.
A farmer working in the field meets a bird. The bird takes the farmer to the cloud in the sky.
A tree grows up with a girl. It feels happy when the girl feels happy.

“Open Waters”
A text-based play from Singapore-Thailand
Directed by Tan Shou Chen, Jaturachai Srichanwanpen
Singaporean Shou Chen, and Thai Jaturachai are talking. In conversation, they weave a new creation myth for the other’s cities: The boring life of a Bangkok urbanite is transformed when the Chao Praya is moved one kilometer to the West; a mysterious girl borne of the ocean goes on a quest to find her history. This is a myth about two histories, two cities, two people, two bodies. The space they create is a canvas, a city made by two people – one from Bangkok, one from Singapore.
